Tyrannosaurus rex

The T-Rex is one of the most famous meat-eating dinosaurs. Known a as a predator, this Theropod dinosaur left sharp-clawed footprintsis and is estimated to have been taller that 13 meters. A famous discovery was made at Cal Orcko, Bolivia, where a juvenile Tyrannosaurus rex, nicknamed "Johnny Walker" left a trackway that stretches for an incredible 347 meters"—the longest continuous dinosaur track in the world.

The Cal Orcko track and fossil site

Cal Orcko is home to the largest and most extensive dinosaur track site in the world, featuring over 12,000 fossilized footprints left by more than eight different species of dinosaurs about 68 million years ago. The tracks are imprinted in a nearly vertical limestone wall. This is because the Andes mountains errected after the dinosaurs went extinct and therefore way after dinosaurs left these prints on a what was then a flat ground. The site offers an unprecedented glimpse into the movements of prehistoric giants, including:

  • Titanosaurs, enormous long-necked sauropods that left deep, rounded footprints in the ancient mud.
  • Theropods, including Tyrannosaurus rex, revealing their presence as apex predators.
  • Ornithopods, plant-eating dinosaurs that traveled in herds along the ancient shores.

With this AR experience, you can now stand beside a full-size T-rex that once left these tracks. If you also want to bring the Ornithopod and Sauropod dinosaurs, that used to roam these lands, back to life, check out our "the Ornithopod of New Mexico AR Clip" and "A Sauropod in Texas AR Clip" experiences.
